Designlife formerly Design Influence is the official magazine for alumni and friends of the College of Design. Formerly called news, the magazine is published biannually in spring and fall. The publication is fully supported by funds from the Design Guild, an association of alumni, friends, design professionals and industry leaders established in 1996 to promote design education through private contributions and gifts.

The NC State Model is an articulation of the attributes of an institution of higher learning and intellectual aspirations within a world culture best described as a culture of continual reconfiguration. The NC State Model was developed by a sub-committee of deans and senior administrators, chaired by Dean Marvin J. Malecha, for the review of the University Administrative Council. It has been adopted by the College of Design Administrative Council.

The Student Publication was established in 1950 to honor the memory of Matthew Nowicki, the first head of the architecture program at NC State University. The publication quickly grew to encompass all of the disciplines of the School. Between 1951 and 1985, issues of the Student Publication numbered 58, each with a student editor, a group of student writers and workers, and a faculty advisor.
