Student Ambassadors

	Rocio // Architecture "I decided to study design at NC State because of the great architecture program the College of Design has to offer. When I attended Design Camp in high school, I fell in love with the program and people. All the teachers and students were so welcoming that made me feel like I am part of a big family. My passion for design and architecture is similar to what other students' experience. There are five different concentrations within this college that not many other universities offer. This advantage allows students to get inspired within a creative community."
	Kiley // Industrial Design "I wanted to pursue a career in design since I was a child. I cannot remember a time where I was not drawing, painting, or crafting. In high school, I took a second level art class and knew from that point on that design was what I wanted to do. When I applied to the College of Design, I thought I had no chance of being accepted. I came to visit NC State and fell in love with the college, faculty, and students. I knew that in the end, College of Design was where I belonged."
	Chelsea // Graphic Design "So many experiences and factors in my life have added up and led to my decision to study design. Coming to NC State I was unsure of what to major in. While searching for “the perfect major” I was fortunate enough to discover graphic design, and everything fell into place. Design has become more than just a major and more of a life purpose. I am happiest when I’m creating and what better way to spend my time than to create meaningful work to improve people’s lives. I design in order to bring awareness and promote change in a sustainable manner. Design is a cycle that continues to give back."
	Drew // Industrial Design "I chose the College of Design for several reasons but largely because of my keen interest in being creative and coming up with new ideas. Before attending Design Camp I was unaware of the options within the design field, specifically Industrial Design. This peaked my interest and ever since I knew that this is what I wanted to do as a professional career. After taking several visits to NC State College of Design I was able to feel a sense of community among students and professionals that is rarely seen in the university setting. I knew this was the place for me and if accepted, there would be no way to turn it down. It is not very often that someone can say they are doing what they love as a career and I feel that design will provide this for me. Although a steady challenge, I have loved every minute of it and would not change my education for anything."

	Katie // Graphic Design "I am the 5th generation to attend NC State in my family. I was practically born on NC State's campus. In fact, I have never considered going to college anywhere else. I knew if I was accepted in Design, it meant this college was the right path for me, and I needed to seize the opportunity. My yearbook class spurred my initial interest in applying to Design. I was never happier than when I was designing layouts or snapping photographs for the yearbook. After that class, I began researching Graphic Design. Based on a friend's recommendation, I attended NC State's high school Design Camp program. Although the camp was supposed to be a taste of Design, I loved every aspect of it. A girl I met at camp is now my roommate and one of my closest friends."
	Jay // Architecture "Considering the excellent faculty, resources, course offerings, and comparably low tuition, I was instantly interested in coming to NC State to major in Architecture. However, I decided to join the NC State College of Design family not only because I would be receiving a high quality education for a very reasonable expense but also because of the welcoming environment and exciting overall campus atmosphere. Speaking specifically from my experience in design studios and classes, I feel that I am in tight knit community with supportive peers and faculty members who constantly challenge me to improve my work and succeed. That said, I am quite grateful to be a member of the College of Design here at NC State."
	Marc // Industrial Design "I've been a Design student for three years now, and I am reminded every day that my choice was the correct one. There is without a doubt, no better school at which to study Design. The teachers and faculty are top notch, the students are some of the nicest human beings I've met and the facilities have everything a student needs to realize their vision. The College of Design and everyone who works here and attends here give it something that no other department or university has: personality."
	Matt // Architecture "The College of Design at NC State has a rich history that is one of the top programs in the southeast. This prestigious reputation led me to pursue NC State's Architecture program. I had known for a long time that I wanted to study architecture, so the choice of college was one of the most important decisions of my life thus far. In the end, NC State College of Design proved to be the best fit for me. The small size allows me to create strong friendships with people from many different majors. In addition, its location within a major public university allows me the opportunity to take part in experiences outside of Design."

	Becca // Architecture "Not only did I choose NC State for its prestigious acknowledgments, but for the feeling I got when I stepped foot on campus. It provided a vivid environment in which to cultivate and nurture my desire to explore the world of design through different lenses. Design has provided unique and interesting opportunities to get involved within and outside of my major. I feel privileged to study in such an environment. Design has always been my passion, and I cannot imagine a better atmosphere in which to pursue it."
	Vallyn // Art + Design "I sought out NC State's Design school because it was a chance for me to do something constructive with my creativity. There is really nothing better than knowing you are doing something that is both fun and purposeful. The small size and intimate environment is perfect for networking and personalization. For me, being here is an excellent way to concentrate all of my energy into my passion."
	Justin // Art + Design "I’m pursuing a career in conceptual illustration and 3D animation. I enjoy combining my love for artistic expression with my aptitude for technology, and in the College of Design, I can make that happen. The skills I’ve learned and the resources I have access to have truly propelled me to the next level of thinking and making."
	Amy // Industrial Design "I chose to go to this college so that I could study design in a large university setting. I benefit from all of the resources from being in a small department while still enjoying the diversity of the university at large. I chose Industrial Design because I love working in 3D and thinking about my designs as real products."

	Maggie // Architecture "When applying to college, I decided that I wanted to major in Architecture. After receiving acceptance letters, NC State made the most sense in terms of price, quality, and proximity to home. When visiting other competitive Design programs nationally, NC State had amazing facilities, renowned faculty, and recognized as state of the art. I did not get into NC State's College of Design my first time applying, but hoped to the second time around. During my freshman year, my friends I made in Design encouraged me to reapply again. Glad I did."
	Austin // Graphic Design "The school of design is like a little fish pond. Tons of fish swim around in a little space eating up all the algae that forms at the surface. The fish are constantly growing and dream of one day moving into the big stream that flows a couple miles away. Little kids throw pebbles into the pond in attempt to scare you while organizations from all over campus try to catch you so you can design a t-shirt and logo for them. On a more serious note: I chose to study at the College of Design because it was the best of the best. With small class sizes and the close relationships students have with professors, the school is a beautiful place [pond] to learn and grow as a designer."
	Tim // Landscape Architecture "I fell in love with the College of Design here at NC State when I toured the architecture studios in elementary school. Going to Design Camp my rising junior and senior years of high school showed me what Landscape Architecture really was and brought my main interest away from Architecture to the urban planning and perceptions that make Landscape Architecture so awesome. Out of all of the schools I received acceptance letters form, NC State was the only close-knit family atmosphere where the professors help students rather than try to weed them out over the 5 years. I am honored to be able to work as a Design Camp Counselor and a Design Ambassador helping prospective students."
	Kirsten // Graphic Design "I chose to study design at NC State because I was really excited about the idea of being a part of a small design college and also a larger University. I had taken a graphic design course my senior year of high school, and on the second day of class I started looking at where to apply. My Dad had mentioned to me that NC State had a design school. I remember responding, "Why would I go to an engineer school, Dad?!". But after talking to my teacher at school, and realizing that my Dad actually knew what he was taking about, I visited the campus and immediately fell in love. Being accepted into this program, and succeeding in it, has been the most accomplished thing I've done in my life."
	Will // Architecture "After deciding to study architecture, I visited many universities in the Southeast and I chose NC State Design School. The Design School at NC State offered a friendly and collaborative studio environment as well as a very personal and attentive staff. After attending design camp in high school I always had NC State in mind. I knew the design school was the place were I could focus on architecture, have fun, and be a part of a family of other students in the school of architecture."
