Settings Suggestions

Below, you will find suggested settings for some materials used on the LaserCutters. If you find that your own settings work better on a certain material, the settings listed below do not work, or if you have settings recommendations for material not listed on this website, please email your suggestions to design_help@ncsu.edu.

Chipboard, 1-play, 1/16th inch To cut (vector):
Power = 30
Speed = 8
PPI = 300
Chipboard, 2-ply, 1/16th inch To cut (vector):
Power = 25
Speed = 3.2
PPI = 200

To engrave (vector):
Power = 10
Speed = 10
PPI = 250
Bassword, 3/32 inch To cut (vector):
Power = 60
Speed = 8
PPI = 500

To engrave (vector):
Power = 30
Speed = 100
PPI = 500
Bassword, 1/32 inch To cut (vector):
Power = 20
Speed = 5.5
PPI = 300

To engrave (vector):
Power = 8
Speed = 20
PPI = 350

Notes: * Should require only one pass to complete
Basswood, 1/4th inch To cut (vector):
Power = 30
Speed = 2.6
PPI = 250

Notes: * One or two passes.
Basswood, 3/16th inch To cut (vector):
Power = 60
Speed = 3.5
PPI = 300
Basswood, 1/16th inch To cut (vector):

Notes: * May take up to three passes to complete.
Standard plywood, 1/8th inch To cut (vector):
Power = 50
Speed = 2.6
PPI = 500

To engrave (vector):

To engrave (raster):
Power = 100
Speed = 50
PPI = 500

Notes: * Because this came from the Lasercutter manual, you may need to reduce the power setting in order to avoid singeing your material. * Should require only one pass to complete.
