Biography
Carol Fountain Nix serves as an Associate Professor of Practice at the College of Design teaching a multi-disciplinary practicum focused on brand development and "real world" practices for all forms of media which also functions as a design studio to support the College's communication needs as well as prepare students for professional careers.In addition to her role as Associate Professor of Practice, Carol manages and oversees the College's brand identity for all outreach materials, publications and web/interactive/social media. Working closely with the Dean, the College Administrative Council and the Director of Communications, Carol provides leadership for communication initiatives with a strategic approach to the College's brand.
Prior to arriving at Design, Carol has owned and managed NIXdesign, an award-winning design firm in Raleigh, North Carolina for most of her career. She has served as the Vice President of Marketing Services at French West Vaughan, one of the southeast's largest public relations firms, where she developed their interactive division, and she has taught full-time as an adjunct professor at Elon University. Carol holds several U.S. patents on her signature line of wine/gourmet products and was selected as a Count Me In™ Micro to Millions award winner.
Carol Fountain Nix received her Master of Graphic Design from North Carolina State University's College of Design and her B.A. in English journalism with minors in art and communications from Elon University.
