Biography

In addition to her work as an educator, Susan Toplikar’s creative work also includes painting, drawing, illustration and public art. Her artwork has appeared in national art and design journals and has been exhibited throughout the United States.

Toplikar also served as editorial advisor in painting and drawing for the award winning literary-visual arts journal, DoubleTake magazine, from 1997 through 1999.

Professor Toplikar’s strong interest in cross disciplinary work has resulted in the development of a unique Art and Design studio in Illustration and Writing, taught in collaboration with various North Carolina writers.

A member of the Academy of Outstanding Teachers and an Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor, Susan Toplikar has taught at the College of Design since 1976.
