Biography

Tsai Lu Liu directed product/service design and international marketing for 12 years in the toy, healthcare, gaming, semiconductor, and Internet industry before returning to Auburn University as an assistant professor of industrial design in 2004. Professor Liu’s design studio clients at Auburn included Coca-Cola, Johnson & Johnson, DeWalt, Broan-NuTone and Generac. Professor Liu has been the recipient of an inventor’s award and several outstanding teaching awards, and has been an active presenter at the IDSA and many other international conferences. Professor Liu served as the Acting Associate Dean of Auburn’s College of Architecture, Design and Construction before joining NC State University as a professor and the Department Head of Graphic Design and Industrial Design in 2012. The research and teaching interests of Professor Liu include user-experience-centered product innovation, user-centered design methods, inclusive design, design education, and social responsibility of designers.
